There are gifts that are given that are simple and perfect.

A little package from a dear friend came today. Little did I know how special it was. Diem you are an amazing person, and to receive something this precious from you, and something so heart-felt made Kyle and I feel that this world is just a wonderful place to be in.

I am so honored to be your friend.
(Yeah I know cheesy!)

Thank you Diem, Will, and the Gang! (but mostly Goldie, Guy, and Sniffles! ha-ha!) **

1 Day...

1 Day...
I probably won't be able to post "the day" photo so lets go back to the beginning.

This is the first photo of Kyle and I. I think it was taken by his cousin's girlfriend. They're a very sweet couple in which we spent more time with in Las Vegas.

The day this photo was taken, who knew that this would be forever? =)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I am so happy. Not only because I'll be spending the rest of my life with my best friend, but I am able to share my happiness with all of you.

Take care for now and see you all in a couple of weeks!
XOXO

Centerpieces

Centerpiece Side 1

Centerpiece Side 2

So here is one of the 10 different centerpieces we designed.
It was based on the idea of exquisite corpse.

These frames we had specialty ordered from our local art store, FLAX, then with the photos we took with Cooper. photo edited them, created masks and desaturated the images to create our fun little centerpiece/table game.

I hope you like it, we had so much fun making them.

Updates and Things

Right now we are in the middle of designing our cake. After looking for a bit we found Montclair Baking. Cheryl was very friendly, and easy to deal with. Her ideas and way of proceeding was also very professional.

Some ideas:

Also, we recently took some Engagement Photos with Cooper. I do have to admit I don't like taking photos. I've always had a kind of anxiety attack when I see a camera. I still feel it even when the camera isn't pointed at me. In any case, the photos came out wonderful. I was very pleased and so was Kyle. We can't wait till the wedding now just for more random shots. They will probably be more for us than anyone else. Kyle and I are just not picture people and I hope people at the wedding realize this and don't feel bad when I tell them to back off. haha!

These are the sample pieces for my dress.
My best friend Heather will be putting it together so it will make more sense on the big day.
The netting is from the lovely Monica. It was such a lovely surprise! I never expected it and I am so grateful to know her.

It will be generally creme and vintage 1940s style that is updated a bit.
My hair will also be 1940s style.

Inside Vintage FaceI have done a couple styles, but I'll keep that secret for now on which style I chose. To the left you can see the books I purchased to achieve the makeup and hairstyle. It's generally straightforward and easy enough to do. It isn't meant for the "non" crafty.

Vintage Face and Hair

I finally received my books today.

I'm planning on doing my own hair and makeup since most of the stylists that are in my pricerange can't come to the hotel to do it for me. The book has wonderful pictures and tips for achieving that "oh so lovely" vintage 1940s style.

We still have to decide on flowers, decoration, cake, and little odds and ends, but I feel comfortable enough that whatever happens happens. =)

All the food was very good, and extremely fresh. I was told by our wedding coordinator
at Nikko that the chef only allows food to be 3 days old, then it is tossed! Which means he doesn't
freeze anything! XD

We also tried some house wine. Some Champagne and some Red wine. It was
generally mellow and nothing too dry or too strong.

NF at Kelly Paper

NF at Kelly Paper, originally uploaded by tingeisha.

Yes, she has no name yet. I know I'm bad. XP
But her personality has been very shy and she has quietly taken trips with me to get use to the idea of being with so many other girls.

Anywho, she explained the complexities of papermaking to me and what paper I should use for my wedding invitations.

She's smarty smart smart like that. XD

Another Dress post

So I love Lucy. Really I do! I also love the clothes she wears. This is one of the dresses she was wearing and I wanted to make sure I have it doodled out so I wouldn't forget.

It's "generally" what she was wearing... but updated.

Ceremony Room

So recently Kyle stopped by Ikea and found a LARGE mirror. Approximatle 6-7 feet in height. Width would be I'll say maybe 3 feet? I'm just approximating.

I like how the room has this mirror at the end and that the drapery covers any "awful" wall coverings and signage. Anywho, I don't have a photo of the mirror because well, I can't find it anywhere on the internet and I'm only guessing it looks like the picture to the left.

Also drapery... Anyone have any ideas on how to hang this kind of drapery without putting something into the wall? I don't want to spend a TON of money on decorations, I like how simple they decorated this room

Here is another photo of the ceremony room. As you can see, there will be a gold screen at the front of the room and um... none of that hooba-joob on the floor. Haha! I am a simple girl... I just want it to look nice. =)

Hotel Updates

A placed we really liked was the Hotel Nikko of San Francisco.
Their presentation was lovely:
hotel_nikko_2

hotel_nikko_1

The lobby of the hotel was so simple, clean, and modern. Bascially really nice Japanese design. Their prices were also the best.

Here are some images of the "potential" space.
I don't have photos of the view but the spaces overlook Union Square, Downtown, and SF bay.

Wedding woes...

Is it really this hard to get in touch with hotel people? It seems they're always too busy to get back to you.

I've called, left messages and etc. The most that one person did was e-mail me. Who does that? I specifically said to CALL me and no one has.

It might also be because there are some union issues occuring downtown right now, but sheesh my life can't stop because workers are unhappy. Hopefully we can find something this month. I'm such a bundle of nerves right now. I'm worried about costs of the wedding, will I have a good enough job by then, etc.

EEP! I just want all this to be done as smoothly as possible!

Hotel Managers...

So I called a couple of Hotels yesterday in hopes to find SOMETHING.
Most are off for the day or aren't there. They switch me to someone else, I give them the general information about the wedding, and they just say, "Pamphlets are in the mail."

Okay. =P

Is this the usuall run-around?
I already have this covered:
1. Dress- Heather
2. Cake/Desserts - Paul
3. Flowers- Laura

These people are actually all brothers and sisters... so it's just a lovely convenience!
More to come!

Day One

Officially this month kicks off the, "Lets get ready for Kyle and Cat to Get Married" month.
This blog will log all the fun, stressful, and interesting things that may happen along the way to the final day and maybe things afterward.

To the right I've posted a list of THINGS TO DO and etc.

To the left you'll see some ideas for dresses. I know the dress will at least be "V" neck and will not be black or white. I want it to also have a vintage feel, but not completely vintage. I like the idea of being able to use the dress again, but then again it would be nice to have something special.

We haven't decided on the exact date, but

September is the targeted month. We are also researching locations for the ceremony/reception.

One contender is the Westin St. Francis.

I've been eating at this hotel for as long as I can remember. It's mostly because my mother loved having lunch here as well as celebrating birthday's, anniversaries, and etc.

Anywho that's it for now. If anyone has suggestions for things please feel free to e-mail or comment.

Oh! Wedding Date: SEPT 2007
